Curaçao Civil Aviation Authority

  • Certification (AOC) and registration of individuals and airlines who want to settle in Curacao and their aircraft ;
  • Oversee technical and operational aviation activities;
  • Maintaining law and regulations and international treaties to guarantee the quality and safety of civil aviation;
  • Issuing of licenses to pilots;
  • Advising the Minister and Management Team on aviation matters;
  • Technical support to the Department for Policy Development of the Ministry with:
    • The development of (strategic) national aviation policy;
    • The development of laws and regulations and enforcement instruments;
    • And the translation of kingdom policy and international treaties to local (tactical and operational) aviation policy.
  • The CCAA supervises the Dutch Caribbean Air Navigation Service Provider, Hato International Airport and the Local airlines.

Meteorological Department of Curaçao

  • The collection of surface and upper-air meteorological data (which are operationally exchanged internationally through the World Weather Watch programme of WMO);
  • The generation of public weather forecast products, official severe weather bulletins like (Tropical Cyclone) advisories and warnings for the Caribbean islands within the Kingdom of the Netherlands;
  • Serving the aviation community with aeronautical meteorological information and products
  • Providing maritime operational meteorological and climatological services to marine interested endusers
  • The management of a climatological database with both surface and upper-air meteorological data;
  • Sustaining the socio-economic developments by transforming data into usefull products, and providing these to different sectors in the community (i.e. insurance, construction, public utilities, agriculture, and environment);
  • Supplying information on seismic and Tsunami activities in the Caribbean region;
  • Advising governmental authorities with respect to the the risk of natural hazards, effects of climate change and possible mitigation measures;
  • Representing Curaçao at the WMO with regards to national and international meteorological policy matters;
  • Working in different working groups and committees of national and international organizations.
